Project Rene Mods

What is happening?

EA Maxis, the company behind Sims has stated Sims 5 as the “next evolution of Sims”. This is why Sims 5 is code named ‘Project Rene’ after all. Code names are interchangeable and not worthy of notice. However Sims 5 is named ‘Project Rene’ for a reason, says the leader of Sims franchise, Lyndsay Pearson. The team specifically chose this name because it sounds similar to words like “Renewal, Renaissance, and Rebirth”. The modding community of Sims is also eagerly waiting for Project Rene's release to create exciting mods for Sims 5. It has not been long since we heard Sims 5 has been canceled! So if you were devastated by the news, the good thing is those were false alarms. Yes! Sims 5 is not canceled and it was just a simple misunderstanding. Sims is an explicitly popular game without a doubt. It's a real-life simulation game that allows players to do anything they can just like in real life in the Sims open world, albeit making it a popular game among many. It has been a decade since the last game in the series, Sims 4 came out. It's high time for the next installment in the series. And we believe we will be able to witness some stunning Project Rene Mods.

What and when can we expect Project Rene?

As of now, we can expect Project Rene earliest in Early 2026. It's still quite too early to make an assumption regarding the exact release dates and trailers etc.

This time Sims 5 promises more Customisation, MultiPlayer options, and Cross Platform compatibility.

1. Cross Platform Compatibility

EA has officially confirmed that Sims 5 will be able to play both on PC and Mobile. The cross-platform ability is attracting a wider audience. Appealing to older Sims players as well as the younger generation.

2. It's Free

Sims 5 is also confirmed to be completely free. This means the base game can be accessed by anyone without paying a price. However, EA expects to add expansions and DLCs as the game improves. These extensions or DLCs will not be free and should be bought.

3. More freedom and limits for mods.

We expect that Project Rene will be easier on mods and on the modding community of Project Rene. And we know for sure that Sims modders are very excited to create mods for Project Rene.

4. Improved Customisation

Customizability is key in Sims. Being able to do what you want with the characters of Sims as the player wishes to is the exact reason Sims got popular. However, Sims 5 seems to focus on such things and improve its customizability as a whole.

Customize Furniture
The Sims 5 buy/ build mode has improved customisations. One of the key features that stand out to me is being able to change the size of furniture. For Example: You can choose a Table in the room and resize it to your liking. Also you are free to select how many chairs the table can have etc. Plus you won’t have to stick with a particular place you can choose anywhere to place these furniture. One of the exciting things to look forward to is being able to customize every object/ part as an individual. For an example: You have the ability to change the pillows on a bed. The number of pillows or even the colors of the pillows etc. Each pillow will be an individual customizable object.

Creating Sims
While create-a-sim mode gives you freedom, it has been somewhat limited. It was revealed we can expect create-a-sim mode to be more customisable, breaking off all the restrictions in Sims 5.

Customisable Colors and Patterns
It is said that they will be expanding the colors and patterns of Sims in Sims5. This way you can choose from a wide variety of patterns and also colors for objects and furniture in Sims 5.

All these customisation effects and improved functions will be well integrated for cross platform functionality. Which means, these functions will be the same across PC and mobile. It is exciting to see these functionalities come into play with Sims 5.

Character Design for Sims 5

This is a big aspect of the game which has made quite the heated conversation among the community. Sims 5’s very first glance at the Sims seem more cartoonist than realistic. One can even comment on them as if they are from Pixar! While the company has never promised to give out realistic character designs or sims in general the community seems to have different opinions. Fans expressed general displeasure with their sims this time saying they need realistic sims.

One in Reddit pointed out, “I remember when Sims 2 came out, those Sims were pretty realistic to the time. We were all excited” However it is still not confirmed on the character designs. Hopefully EA will come up with more realistic designs for Sims 5!

Another aspect we should not forget is these characters in Sims 5 are highly customisable. As previously mentioned as well, characters’ clothes, hair and even their facial features and body types can be chosen in Sims 5. After all this is something to look forward to when Sims 5 comes out!

Rumors surrounding Project Rene Mods

As we mentioned above, one of the biggest rumors about Project Rene was, The whole project getting nuked and the game will not support mods! Thankfully that ain’t true. Apparently there have been several leaks from the test versions of Sims 5. Like the character designs etc. Also it was said that a free test version of the game was circulating the internet for a while now and it has been removed recently by EA. Sims 5 has an extremely active community waiting upon it. The community of modders is very active and ever growing. So take all the news you come across with caution! Project Rene will be coming after over a decade since Sims 4 was released. So the expectations are high! Keep your hopes up and await for more details about Project Rene Mods!
